mune viśiṣṭas tatrāpi
teṣām indraḥ purandaraḥ
nigrahe ’nugrahe ’pīśo
vṛṣṭibhir loka-jīvanaḥ
TRANSLATION
My dear sage, the most distinguished of these demigods is Purandara Indra. He has full power to reward and punish, and he gives the world life by providing rain.
