Saturday, March 26, 2016 — Text 1: Symptoms of a Self-Controlled Devotee Fixed in Bhakti-Yoga
11 Core Verses for the Practice of Bhakti-Yoga – A Study of Śrī Upadeśāmṛta
The essential teachings of bhakti-yoga were disseminated by Śrī Caitanya mainly through the writings of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī who was one of the few people directly and systematically instructed by him. The substance of those teachings, the essence of all bhakti philosophy, were expertly summarized and poetized in 11 verses called Sri Upadesamrita, translated and popularized by Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada as The Nectar of Instruction. This seminar will be taught by Dhanurdhara Swami, a scholar of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī’s teachings. His book Waves of Devotion, a study of Rūpa Gosvāmī’s Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu (Nectar of Devotion) is one of the most widely acclaimed commentaries on the text in English.
This seminar is for those who would like to deepen their understanding of bhakti-yoga.
